Holy Rosary Catholic School was established in 1890 to educate, prepare, and inspire our students to achieve their full potential as lifelong learners while developing a spiritual faith formation.
Our mission calls us to minister to Medford and the surrounding communities, by supporting the spiritual, cognitive, physical, and social development of each individual child enrolled from three-year-old preschool through sixth grade.
We challenge and encourage our students to attain the highest level of academic achievement and to live out the social justice teachings of the Catholic Church values with one another, our families, and the extended community.
We believe that a strong faith formation supports the natural curiosity and imagination of our students and prepares them to take their place as leaders in our society.
Holy Rosary Catholic School is designed for the education, development and spiritual formation of our children. We believe that developing the whole child is a community effort between students, school staff, parents, and parishioners.
Our school community provides each student with a sense of belonging, thereby helping develop a positive self-worth. We strive to create an atmosphere of joy, love, and concern for all students.
Elements of faith are integrated into the school curriculum creating opportunities for critical decision-making and for further growth and development that includes a global perspective. Students are prepared to become productive and virtuous citizens and church leaders who will fashion a more humane and just world.
Opportunities are created to help students develop critical thinking, communication, and creative skills according to their individual ability levels. Holy Rosary Catholic School seeks to fulfill the academic and spiritual needs of the individual student with the curriculum that enables students to develop to their maximum potential.
Holy Rosary Catholic School will be the school of choice for families of the Holy Rosary Parish, as well as, for other families who desire a quality Catholic education that will ensure students begin their life's journey with a strong foundation of faith and knowledge.

Since its beginning in 1890, the ongoing growth and expansion of Holy Rosary School have continued to provide an excellent Catholic education for elementary students throughout Taylor County, Wisconsin. The School Sisters of St. Francis staffed the school through the early years and started it on its journey of 127 years of education and growth, beginning with the first sisters who courageously accepted this challenging ministry.
During the school's existence, the size of the faculty and student enrollment has remained steady. The original teachers and students grew to 11 teachers and 105 students in 2017. A new school was build in 1927 and expanded in 1952. A major building project in 2003 of a one-level new school building and enlarged areas further included the construction of the Library Center, a multi-purpose area known as the Commons, and the new gymnasium was completed in 2003 as well.
Always attuned to the changing needs of society, the school strives to keep pace with 21st-century technology and classroom innovations. Ongoing professional staff development is vital for all aspects of the students' and the school community's growth. Faculty will continue to receive training to implement and develop skills in current best instructional practices and educational technology integration.

The success and coordination of Holy Rosary's program continue to be accomplished through the dedicated support and efforts, both past and present, of the entire school community: Holy Rosary Parish's pastors, particularly the current pastor, Father Patrick McConnell and pastor emeritus Father Brost; the school administration and staff; the Education Committee; Home and School Association officers and members; our dedicated parents and guardians; the pastors of all area churches; the Bishop and the Office of the Superintendent of Schools for the Diocese of Superior, Wisconsin.
Our Lady of the Rosary, also known as Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, is a title of the Blessed Virgin Mary in relation to the Rosary.
The Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, formerly known as Our Lady of Victory and Feast of the Holy Rosary, is a feast day of the Roman Catholic Church, celebrated on 7 October, the anniversary of the decisive victory of the combined fleet of the Holy League of 1571 over the Ottoman navy at the Battle of Lepanto.
According to Dominican tradition, in 1206, St. Dominic was in Prouille, France, attempting to convert the Albigensians back to the Catholic faith. The young priest had little success until one day he received a vision of the Blessed Virgin, who gave him the Rosary as a tool against heretics. While Mary's giving the rosary to St. Dominic is generally acknowledged as a legend, the development of this prayer form owes much to the followers of St. Dominic.
